2008-09 Objectives

The Pastoral Council held a special meeting on July 25th, 2008 to develop a set of objectives for the upcoming council year.  The list of objectives are as follows.  If anyone within the parish community would like to volunteer to help with one of the objectives and serve on a subcommittee, please contact George Krause, Tom Baldy, or Mary Ellen Marsalek. 

 

  1. Develop a plan to celebrate the year of St Paul.
    1. Form a tour group of volunteers to host Pilgrimages visting St Paul's.
    2. Develop a "take away" memnto to give Pilgrimages after a visit.

    3. Special Mass to celebrate the Conversion of St Paul (January 25th): Invite Archbishop Edwin O'Brien.
    4. Special Mass to celebrate the closure of the Pauline year (June 28th): Invite Archbishop O'Brien.
    5. Catholic Review article.
    6. Howard County Times article.
    7. Historical Homes Listing & Tour
  2. Develop a plan to celebrate the 170 Anniversary of St Paul of Ellicott City Parish.
    1. Special Mass on December 13th: Invite Archbishop O'Brien.
    2. Development of a memorial prayer garden on the campus of St Paul.
    3. Additional ideas?
  3. Expand Parish Community Involvement Activities
    1. Family Game Night
    2. Family BINGO & Ice Cream Social
    3. 80 Years Young Social
    4. Coffee & Donus after Saturday 5:00 PM & Sunday 11:30 AM Masses
    5. New Parishioner Welcome Dinner
    6. Parish Hayride
    7. Shrove Tuesday Dinner
    8. Dat at the Friary
    9. Outdoor Stations of the Cross & Adoration
    10. Sermons in Stones
    11. Family Movie Night on the parking lot
    12. Matt Maher Concert
    13. Valentine's evening for couples
    14. Family Snow Tubing
  4. Expand community out reach programs
    1. Identify Special Policy for Parish financial support
    2. Shut-in program
      • Visits
      • Care-giver breaks
      • Transportation to mass
      • Transportation to doctor's appointments
      • Christmas in April project
      • Habitat for Hummanity project
  5. Move forward with the final building plans
    1. Obtain AOB approval for next phase
    2. Contract architect to develop detailed plans and drawings
    3. Start building permit process
  6. Obtain the remaining pledges required for the Capital Campaign goal
    1. Display schematic drawings prepared by Laurie Dickson for entire parish
      • Narthex of Church
      • Parish Picnic
      • Post on St Paul Website
    2. Publish FAQ of building on Website
  7. Secure required cash on hand to start building construction.
