The Saint Vincent dePaul Society was started in France on April 23, 1822 by Frederi

The St. Vincent de Paul Society in the United States was established in St. Louis, Missouri at the Basilica of St. Louis. The first meeting of the St. Vincent de Paul Society in the United States was held on November 20, 1845.

St Paul’s established a chapter of the St Vincent dePaul Society in 1992. Since then, thousands of parishioners and nearby neighbors have been helped in a variety of ways. Activities include stocking local food pantries, serving at soup kitchens, helping students with school supplies, and assisting with shut-off notices.Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month, at 7:30 PM, and are open to all parishioners.

To insure that resources are allocated in a professional christian way

St John’s Church studied the passion narratives using A Crucified Christ in Holy Week. Essays on the Four Gospel Passion Narratives, Raymond E. Brown, The Liturgical Press, Collegeville, MN, 1986, ISBN 0-8146-1444-2, supplemented with some information from Fr. Brown's two volume commentary The Death of the Messiah. The first Sunday of each month St Paul’s parish has a non-perishable food collection which supports local food pantries. The contributions from the poor box on the first weekend of the month funds identified needs in the local community.

  

  casserole.jpgThis committee encourages parishioners to prepare and help serve a monthly meal at Beans & Bread, a soup kitchen in Baltimore.

Each year food baskets are given to families in the local area. 

 
 
Hundreds of Christmas gifts are donated by our parish and distributed by the St Vincent dePaugifts.jpgl Committee.  Gifts are provided to children’s’ homes, addict recovery centers, transitional homes for men and women, schools and families, hospitals,and more.

   Each year school supplies, donated by our parishioners are collected, sorted and donated to a number of inner city schools.
