Religious Education

PROGRAM INFORMATION

Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) -Religious Education for children ages 4 & 5

This Preschool Program is designed to foster a knowledge and understanding of the Bible,the liturgy, and the living traditions of the Church. The children are dismissed during the Sunday, 9:30 a.m. Mass to learn about the Gospel through stories, play, and activities.There is no fee for this program.

The Great Gospel -- Students in Grades 1-5

Twice a month children in grades 1-5 are dismissed during the 9:30 a.m. mass to learn about the Gospel through dynamic activities.  The children gather in the Center for a music, role playing, and teachings based on the weekly Gospel stories.  The children return to church for to celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist with their family.   There is no fee for this program.  For each Great Gospel session, parents may sign in their children, in the narthex, before the beginning of mass.     

Elementary Religious Education – Religious Education for students in Grades 1-5 

The Elementary program is designed to teach school age children how to live Gospel values in their everyday lives. With Christ at the Center of the lessons, children are exposed to the many facets and enduring truths of the Catholic faith. Sessions for this program are offered on Sundays, Session A (4:30-5:30 p.m.) or Session B Mondays (6:00 -7:00 p.m.)

EDGE – Middle School Religious Education for Grades 6-8 

EDGE is a Lifeteen Program designed to lead teenagers and their families into a deeper
relationship with Christ and His Church. The goal of this Eucharist-centered program is to “unleash the fullness of the Sacramental power present within the young Church.” EDGE meets on Sundays from 7-8:30 p.m.

Life Teen – High School Religious Education for Grades 9-12

Based on the Philosophies of Life Teen, this group meets on Sunday evenings from 7-8:15 p.m. at the Church of the Resurrection.

First Sacrament Preparation – Children receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist meet on Saturdays throughout the school year (see Sacramental Schedule). In addition to the regular Religious Education fee, there is $40 sacrament fee to cover the cost of books and materials.

 

Confirmation – St. Paul’s Confirmation Program is a joint program with Church of the Resurrection

REGISTRATION AND FEES  

$100 for one child; $150 for two children; $200 for three or more children.

Payment is due at the time of registration.  Financial assistance or payment plans are available by contacting Mary Johnston, DRE, mary@stpaulec.org, 410-465-1670, ext. 30. Registration forms and fees are due August 14. Forms and fees received after this date will be assessed an additional $15 fee per family. 

VOLUNTEERS

Adult volunteers are essential to St. Paul’s successful Religious Education program.  We ask you to prayerfully consider volunteering your time to teach our children the riches and truths of our Catholic Faith.  All volunteers are required to complete Shield the Vulnerable - STAND training through the Baltimore Archdiocese.   High school youth may volunteer to assist with our RE programs. Youth age 14 -18 are required to complete Worthy of the Call Training.  Please see our Shield the Vulnerable -STAND page for more details on our requirements.
