RCIA is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults; the process of welcoming adults into the Roman Catholic Church. Our entire parish has a role in this important process.
Each of us is called to accompany the inquiring adults on their faith journey. We are called to welcome them at our parish liturgies, pray for them, be role models for them, and share our Catholic teachings, traditions and beliefs. As we reach out to support the adults in RCIA, it helps us understand so much more about our own faith. In fact – the RCIA candidates often evangelize us!
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults at St Paul’s
Our RCIA group meets on Tuesdays from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the conference in the main office building. At St Paul’s the RCIA Process is directed by a team. The team members, mostly parishioners, are true evangelizers of our faith. From presenting the topic for the evening, to engaging in discussions, to sharing faith stories, team members and RCIA candidates learn together.
The special RCIA celebrations are normally at the Saturday 5PM Mass, as the entire assembly shares witness in the Rite of Sending and the Rite of Enrollment. The RCIA process does not end with the great celebration at the Easter Vigil. The RCIA group continues to meet, and the new members of the Church community begin a time of reflection. It is in this time, that the new Catholics begin to live out their sacramental call to service.
From snacks to sessions, all involved in the RCIA process find themselves belonging to a new family – the family of Catholic Christian believers!
