Eucharistic ministers are age 18 and above, and serve Holy Communion at Mass of your choice. Training is provided and scheduling is through the main office. What a beautiful ministry - to share the Body and Blood of our Lord!
Eucharistic ministers also visit our home-bound parishioners. If you or someone you know is sick, or who would like a visit, please contact the office.
The Extraordinary Ministers (EM) of Holy Communion are lay men and women who assist the celebrant with the distribution of Communion at Mass. The Eucharistic Minister has the honor of sharing the Eucharistic bread and Eucharistic cup at the Liturgy of the Mass.
Some Extraordinary Ministers take communion to the sick at home, or in the hospital depending on the needs of the individual. Some times EMs are called upon to assist with certain special rites, such as distribution of ashes.
Prayer for Eucharistic Ministers
Gracious Lord, fill me with your presence. May my heart and behavior reflect utmost respect of your precious Body and Blood. Free me from any vanity or pride, and remind me that I am, but a servant to your people. Amen.
Eucharistic Ministers at St Paul's
To be a Eucharistic Minister, individuals must be fully initiated, at least 18 years old, and approved by the Archdiocese of Baltimore. A short training session is required before EM serves at Mass.
At St Paul’s EMs take communion to the home bound, the first weekend of each month, and more frequently as requested. The Eucharistic ministers’ schedule is done by the main office. EMs usually serve once a month, at the Mass of their choice.
