There are four music choirs at St Paul's. The contemporary choir, traditional adult choir, children's choir, and funeral choir. New voices are always welcome!
Contemporary Choir
St Paul's Contemporary Choir is for adult, youth, and family volunteer musicians and singers. With varied musical instruments and all types of voices, individuals as well as entire families share their talents and love of music.
Our dedicated members join the congregation celebrating at weekend liturgies September through June. The choir also celebrates at the Christmas and Easter liturgies and special occasion celebrations. The contemporary choir usually celebrated at the 5PM Saturday Mass.
Practice is held in the Church on the first and third Friday evenings of the month at 7:30 PM. Musicians and singers of all ages are invited and welcomed. The Contemporary Choir fosters a spirit of family, fun, celebration, and expression of Christ's love for us through music.
Traditional Choirs
The adult traditional choir rehearses ever Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. in Dohony Hall and sings at the11:30 a.m. Mass on Sundays from September through June. The Choir sings before and during the liturgies of Holy Week, Christmas Midnight Mass, Holy Days, and other special occasions. The Choir also presents a program of Christmas music at a local nursing home in December. The Choir has a professionally recorded CD entitled “Laudate Dominum,” featuring classic hymns and choral arrangements by contemporary artists. The vocal services of some of the choir members are sought out and available professionally for weddings and other special events.
Students in grades 2 and up are welcome to participate in the Junior Choir, which rehearses on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. from October until Easter. The Junior Choir sings once a month at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass and also at the 4 p.m. Children’s Mass on Christmas Eve. The Junior Choir celebrates the end of the year in April with a pizza & bingo party.
The Funeral Choir is comprised of Choir members mostly from St. Paul’s and St. Mark’s parishes. This choir is available to sing at funeral liturgies at St. Paul’s and St. Mark’s, providing consolation and support through special music. The Funeral Choir rehearses for a short time prior to each funeral when necessary.
In addition to the Choirs, we are fortunate to have a String Ensemble of talented young adults. They provide music before and during the 9 a.m. Christmas Day Mass. Occasionally, one or more members of the group are called on to accompany the Adult Choir.
Along with the Choirs and String Ensemble, our regular and substitute cantors give generously of their time and talent in rehearsing for and providing music at our liturgies. We are blessed with many dedicated and talented volunteers in our Traditional Choirs. We invite and encourage your participation in one of our Choirs.
