St Paul Parish 2nd Annual Pumpkin Patch!

The parish 2nd annual pumpkin patch proved to be a sunny day with lots of crafts, games and good things to eat for children ages 10 and under. From playing 'pumpkin bowl', to creating their own pumpkin patch, the children made crafts of popcorn hands, coloring pages, pumpkin balloon heads and more. Special menu for the day was macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets, veggies, pretzels, and home made cookies they frosted and decorated themselves!
Special thanks to Loretta, Christia, and Sharon for preparing for and making all the events possible, to all parents who brought their children to enjoy the day. And extra special thanks to the 10 teenagers who helped with the crafts, games, and food - of course, ensuring that everything was 'child safe'!

As is the tradition at St Paul's Church, our high school youth presented the Living Stations on Good Friday evening. Among the dimming lights, the flickering candles, and the sounds of whips and nails, the last hours of Jesus' life were portrayed in a reverent manor. As the youth processed out following the large wooden cross, the church was hushed in a respectful silence.

Approximately 70 people enjoyed a wonderful Lenten Dinner on 5 March in St Paul's Parish Hall. Feasting on pasta, salad, rolls, and peaches - the real 'feast' was spending an evening with fellow parishioners - better known as our parish family. After dinner, many shared in the Stations of the Cross - while the teenage youth enjoyed 'kitchen duty'. Our next dinner is 19 March, and yes, all are welcome!

Lead by Fr Carl Frisch, Trinitarian, the group's itinerary includes exploring many places where Jesus walked....Bethlehem, Tiberius, Cana, Nazareth, and Jerusalem. Truly an opportunity of a lifetime! Our pilgrims are expected to return March 4, 2010.

Each summer, St Paul's Church offers both middle school and high school youth "Adventure Days". The day begins with prayer, followed by a service activity, lunch, and usually concludes with a fun event. Middle school adventure days are normally in mid-late July, and high school adventure days are usually late July, early August.
In July 2009, middle school youth helped the community by cleaning neighborhood yards, visiting St Martin's Little Sisters of the Poor Home, making picnic baskets for parish home bound members and landscaping at Our Lady's Center. Fun activities included viewing the new Harry Potter movie, duck-pin bowling and hiking the trolley trail.
