There are seven sacraments associated with the Catholic Church: Baptism, Reconciliation (Penance), Communion (Eucharist), Confirmation, Matrimony, Sacrament of Healing and Holy Orders.  All but the seventh, Holy Orders, are regularly celebrated at St Paul's.

Sacraments
  • Baptism

The sacrament is one by which a person is cleansed of sin and united as a believer with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.  It is the earliest sacrament received in the Catholic Church.

  • Reconciliation

Reconciliation is also known as confession, penance, and the sacrament of forgiveness.  It is when a person talks with a priest about their wrong-doings and asks for forgiveness.  In this sacrament, the priest is God's representative.

  • Matrimony

The marriage covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of their entire life, which is ordered by its own nature to the good of the spouses and to the procreation and upbringing of offspring, has been raised, between the baptized, to the dignity of sacrament by Christ the Lord.

The parish has also established several guidelines for the celebrating the sacrament.

  • Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the sick, is as much a sacrament for the aging and ill, as it is for those preparing for surgery.

  • Confimation

Confirmation is the sacrament by which a baptized person is welcomed into full membership in the Church.  The candidate confirmconfirm1.pngs his or her belief in the Catholic Church, the Holy Trinity, and receives the Holy Spirit.  The sacrament of Confirmation completes the full initiation into the Catholic church.

Generally, Confirmation is celebrated once a year, for high school students.  Adults can also be confirmed by contacting the Parish Office.
