Home | Sacraments | Confirmation

Confirmation is the sacrament by which a baptized person is welcomed into full membership in the Church.  The candidate confirmconfirm1.pngs his or her belief in the Catholic Church, the Holy Trinity, and receives the Holy Spirit.  The sacrament of Confirmation completes the full initiation into the Catholic church.

Generally, Confirmation is celebrated once a year, for high school students.  Adults can also be confirmed by contacting the Parish Office.

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in My name,
He will teach you all things   [John 14:26]

When the day of Pentecost had come; they were all together in one place.  And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.   And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them.  And they were filled with the Holy Spirit      [Acts 2: 1-4]

The Sacrament of Confirmation....Strengthened in Faith

Confirmation is about becoming personally responsible for one's faith and making good choices based on our catholic teachings and traditions. Confirmation perfects our baptism and brings us the graces of the Holy Spirit. Being anointed with  holy chrism, it is now our choice to enter into a fuller communon with Christ's body of the universal church The sacramnet of Confirmation prefercts Baptismal grace and through the giofts of the Holy Spirit helps us to grow to Christain maturity,   The sacrament strengthens our bond with the church, associates us more closely with her mission and helps us bear witness to the Christian faith in words and deed [Catechism of the Catholic Church Reference: 1316].

Confirmation is the third sacrament of the sacraments of initiation.  Along with Baptism and Eucharist, Confirmation completes our full membership in the Catholic Church.  During Confirmation, those to be confirmed are asked to renew their Baptismal Promises.  If one was baptized as an infant, the parents and godparents promised to raise the child in the Catholic faith.  In Confirmation, the person being confirmed solidifies her/his own commitment to live a Christian life.
