The Pastoral Council consists of members of the parish who serve as a consultative body to the Pastor. The purpose of the council is to further the development of a Christian community by advising and assisting the duly appointed pastor in matters relating to the facilities, parish organizations, and pastoral activities, etc. It also serves as a channel of communication through which questions, insights, views, and plans of and for the parish may be exchanged and further an active, energetic, and unified parish.
The Council encourages communication within the parish and with the community and Archdiocese. Council members are elected for two year terms, with specific information defined in the by-laws. Most members are elected, others are appointed by the pastor, and some represent the Pastoral Staff and key organizations (e.g. Religious Education, Youth and Young Adults, Finance Committee, Women's Club, etc).
The Council meets on the third Wednesday of each month, except July and August. Meetings are at 7:30 PM in Dohony Hall, and all parishioners are welcome to attend. Agenda items may be added by notifying the council president at least one week prior to the meeting.
The Pastoral Council held a special meeting on July 25, 2008 to develop a set of objectives for the upcoming council year. The list of objectives is available here. If anyone within the parish community would like to volunteer to help with one of the objectives and serve on a subcommittee, please contact George Krause, Tom Baldy, or Mary Ellen Marsalek.
