Preparation for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation is a stand-alone program that is not part of our regular Religious Education program at St. Paulʼs or a Catholic school religious education class. Sacramental preparation consists of classroom instruction and at least one practice session. Reception of the sacrament is traditionally held during mid-November. Registration is required for First Reconciliation preparation class.
There are five catechist volunteer opportunities each year and one administrative volunteer opportunity. The catechists teach in small groups while coordinating the Sacrament of First Reconciliation celebration together. The administrative volunteer reviews studentsʼ records and maintains the First Reconciliation data base. This short term commitment is a wonderful volunteer opportunity for members who can only commit for a limited time.
This adult ministry does not preclude those with physical limitations. Classes are held weekly in the evening from mid-September to November. All volunteers must be practicing Catholics, and register on Shield the Vulnerable through the Archdiocese of Baltimore
