CLOW (Children's Liturgy of the Word)
Each Sunday during the 9:30 a.m. Mass, the priest invites four and five year old children to gather at the altar. CLOW teachers then walk the youngsters to the Youth Room, where they celebrate a special liturgy together that is fun and easy for them to understand. The classes are timed to finish just as the offertory gifts are being prepared. The children rejoin their families for the Liturgy of the Eucharist at Mass.
CLOW takes place from September to May. There are three volunteer opportunities for CLOW teachers and one for a student helper, usually 14 years of age or older. In addition to attending Sunday mornings, volunteers attend three meetings held in late August to coordinate the upcoming yearʼs program.
The location of the Youth Room makes this volunteer opportunity difficult for those with physical limitations. All volunteers must be practicing Catholics, and register on Shield the Vulnerable through the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
